In a day and age where racial tensions continue to run high and sincere people want to help but are scared of saying and doing the wrong thing, many of us fail to take action due to uncertainty and fear. The good news is that there are inspiring, educational resources available. Chris Crass’s book, Towards the Other America: Anti-Racist Resources for White People taking Action for Black Lives Matter is one of those timely resources. Chris has agreed to help our yoga community join together— locally and globally— to educate ourselves, each other, and to bring skillful, informed action into our world.
In our Austin yoga community, we formed a small group to meet regularly to educate ourselves and explore ways we might make a difference. My vision is that small groups such as ours would meet throughout the country and be connected through an online network for collaboration and support. If you are interested in what we are doing and would like to explore how to get started in your area, please join me and Chris on this call. If you know someone who might be interested, please pass the information along to them.
The call will be recorded and available for viewing at a future time. The recording link will be posted on our Facebook page after the call. Chris will share his experiences in social justice, activism and human rights education and wants to answer questions that you have that are relevant for you.
