This Back Bending “workshop” build on all the materials and experiences we shared in the Winter Session and will empahsize additional tips and techniques to help students go deeper down the road of the back bending postures safely and effectively. Winter Session left off with prepartory work on dropping back to urdhva dhanurasana from standing. Spring Session will work on headstand drop overs, dwi pada viparita dandasana and eka pada rajakapotasana variations.
In the Winter Session Christina Sell outlined a 75-minute general sequence that can be practiced as a routine or an ongoing conditioning program. In addition to this general sequence, she provided protocols for strength-building, shoulder-stretching, quad -stretching, upper back opening that could be done independently or added onto the general sequence to create longer, more focused back bending sequences. Spring Session will work from the general sequence with modifications, variations and ongoing group support to help students maximize their learning in a collegial online environment. Particiapants are encouraged to practice alone or to start small practice groups with students and friends in their local areas to develop community, comraderie and collaboration.
